What is Move Again?

Move Again is the eighth extended play by South Korean girl group KARA, released on November 29, 2022, through RBW and marketed as their 15th Anniversary Special Album. The four-track EP represents multiple significant milestones for the group, marking their first release since disbanding in 2016, their first to feature former members Nicole and Kang Ji-young since their departure in 2014, and their first project following the death of member Hara in November 2019.

The album features all five members—Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Jung Nicole, Kang Ji-young, and Heo Young-ji—reunited for the first time in seven years since their seventh mini-album In Love. "When I Move" serves as the title track, accompanied by three additional songs: "Happy Hour," "Shout It Out," and "Oxygen". Notably, all tracks feature lyrics penned by the members themselves, with "Happy Hour" written collectively by all five members.

The official album title and release date were announced on October 18, 2022. On November 11, KARA confirmed completion of filming for their comeback music video. The group's full comeback schedule was subsequently released on November 14 via Twitter. A Japanese version of the album followed on December 21, 2022.

Rumors of KARA's return initially circulated in June 2022 after the members gathered on June 13 to discuss releasing a digital single and various activities celebrating their 15th anniversary. RBW officially announced the reunion on September 19, confirming the group would reunite to commemorate their 15th debut anniversary.

Why was Move Again released?

KARA's 15th anniversary reunion

The group reunited to commemorate their 15th debut anniversary and repay support from fans who had consistently shown loyalty throughout the years. Leader Park Gyuri described the reunion as an opportunity for members who experienced ups and downs together under the KARA name to celebrate, share stories, and comfort one another. The album served as a gift to fans marking this milestone year.

Return of Nicole and Kang Ji-young

Nicole and Kang Ji-young rejoined the group for this project after withdrawing in April 2014 upon contract expiration. Their return created a never-before-seen lineup, as this marked the first time they would promote alongside Heo Young-ji, who joined KARA after their departure. Both former members contributed to the album's creation, with Jiyoung participating in writing and composing while Nicole wrote Korean-language lyrics.

First release after 2016 disbandment

Although Korean media widely reported KARA disbanded in January 2016 following contract expirations, members consistently maintained they did not consider the group disbanded. Youngji stated in September 2016 that the group remained intact, while Gyuri affirmed that members would release an album if the opportunity arose.

Tribute to late member Hara

The album incorporated multiple tributes to Goo Hara, who died in November 2019. The "When I Move" music video featured six microphone stands onstage and a sixth table setting during an anniversary celebration scene. Members tagged Hara on Instagram when posting reunion photos, acknowledging her as an eternal group member.
